This is my last post here on the Lock. I turn 17 tomorrow! Funny, because I haven't really posted much, just commented mostly. Anyway, I'll see you lot back at school and Terry, you will be hearing from me, because I'll write to you, using Pig.

I'm going to miss this, talking freely the way the Lock lets us do, but you know that since I hang out with Gred and Forge, I'll be keeping my hand in with causing mayhem.

Ron and Nev, we'll be counting on you mostly to keep us up-to-date with what you think we should know. But this safe space is up to you to run now.

Use it well.

Only, uh-

What's the passphrase meant for? Who's going to use it to tell what? What'd'you mean 'so we can tell them it's us'? Who are we going to tell? Shouldn't they be telling us who they are? Or- how would they know who to say it to either?

I mean, what?

Yeah, is this something we could say to Madame Pomf one of the people we think is their lot, if we need to tell them something urgently, or something they'd say to us, if they need to tell US something urgently?

Maybe it's for both?

I can see how that'd be important. Like if there was someone we really thought was part of all of it, but they weren't, it'd be important to check first.

Maybe we should come up with one we'll say, and they can come up with one they'll say?

That's a good idea. But we should make sure they know that we'll only use the pass-phrase if it's really important, and not just out of curiosity.

It should probably be a question and an answer. Because if we get it wrong it shouldn't sound like a code, you know? Maybe it could be a question about some really obscure spell. 'Have you ever cast the Romanian Left-Footed Toenail Hex?' Or something like that. And the answer could be, 'Yes, but I'm hesitant to talk about the experience.' Because then in response to that we could say part of what we needed to say, like, 'it's a really urgent question, can we go somewhere private' or 'it's really Neville who needs help' or whatever.

I don't know, though, if there's one thing I learned from that codes class on Thursday, it's that the lot of us aren't as subtle and clever as we think we are. (And Patil's not as funny as she thinks she is, but THAT I already knew.)

Patil. Yeah. Thinks she's dead hilarious, but has no sense of humour at all. Amazing.

I mean who doesn't think a code question like
    What's deLISH?

    TunaFISH!
is dead awesome? Catchy. Easy to remember. And it was obviously A JOKE to get everyone to bloody lighten up a bit. But, noooo, Patil had to act like I was the biggest nutter from Nut Hall. Whatever.
