Order Only - Bedford Collective
Dec. 15th, 2013 06:54 pmJust wanted to report that Jeremy and I spent the day at the Bedford Collective, and what happened.
We brought Regina and Lisa to have a look at their food stores. The farms were pretty self-supporting, but because of the shape of the Fidelius, they really want to plant things differently next year. I didn't follow all the discussion, but it's mostly stuff we've plenty of seeds and plants for.
(Professor Sprout, I think there's a few things Regina wanted to ask you about, too - something about pest control and if there's magical plants good for something specific? She's writing a letter for you.)
We also brought a few people from Aldrich, and they had a long meeting about different governance methods. Aldrich has a mayor, and I guess Bedford had talked about that, but they're still not sure they like it. They're talking about some kind of elected committee, especially since the farms all focus on different things and sometimes theysquabble disagree about which one's more important. I have notes, Mrs Longbottom, and I'll drop them off when I get a break between work runs tomorrow.
Speaking of, they're looking for trade options. They've got lots of wood, but also lots of alpaca. (Alpacas are really funny looking, but sort of snitch. And they make great noises.)
I guess there's a thing where trying to sell it might be tricky now. Jeremy had a thought here, but I'm going to let him explain that bit.
They offered to trade some to Aldrich, and I think they'd like to trade some to Moddey Dhoo and Sherwood, if there's things they can use. (They said it makes really snitch blankets and cloaks - really warm and light.)
We made sure they have radios, and the reason we waited so long is so I could get the parts to set up a tower for them. They'll be trying to produce some of their own shows once they sort out power. Nice folks, though, and real happy to be free, and they seem to be settling in to managing things pretty well.
